Mission Statement:
The mission of the Department of Leisure Services is to ensure the availability of quality leisure time opportunities for the citizenry of Oromocto. In fulfilling this mission, the department will take a proactive role as facilitator, planner, creator, developer, provider, manager and promoter where required.
Basic Overall Goals and Objectives:
The term service denotes a response to needs, desires, and interests of the community. Within this concept of service, it is acknowledged that one of the Department’s primary thrusts is that of facilitator or enabler. In essence, the Department is here to serve and help people help themselves.
To implement this philosophy, a series of goals and objectives has been identified. The basic overall goals of the Department include:
1) to provide opportunities which enable all residents to enjoy leisure;
2) to assist community organizations and groups with human and material resources;
3) to coordinate the use of existing physical, financial and human resources.
Town of Oromocto Recognition Programme:
Each year the Town of Oromocto acknowledges outstanding achievements by its residents in provincial, national and international engagements, as well a community-oriented volunteer activities.
