The Town of Oromocto has a detailed Emergency Operations Plan and fully functional Emergency Operations Centre located at its Municipal Offices on Doyle Drive.

The Committee meets regularly and routinely exercises its plan. Some of the other activities of the Committee include:

•Contingency planning for high risk hazards

•Regular updating and review of the Disaster Plan

•Regular updating of after hours contact numbers for area businesses

•Pre-identifying evacuation and reception centres and entering into signed agreements with the building owners

•Securing funding for back-up generators for the Emergency Operations Centre, Fire Department, Works Department and for the waste water pumping stations

•Conducting training and exercises designed to test the disaster plan

•Involvement with Provincial agencies and other municipalities for planning

•Initiating a mutual response agreement with the City of Fredericton and the Village of New Maryland
